Westchester Elementary School
To contend with overcrowding and to maintain class sizes, a new one-story addition provides a wonderful library expansion and additional classroom spaces for this Elementary School. The library is outfitted with new multi-purpose furniture for both larger classes and individual study, and bright pops of color highlight unique architectural features. Notable elements in the library include custom millwork, interesting pendant lighting, acoustical ceiling blades, and clerestory windows.
The cafeteria expansion provides additional seating and features clerestory windows to allow in expansive natural light. A new storm shelter provides protection for the entire student population. Renovations to the existing school include classrooms and support areas as well as ADA alterations throughout the facility. A new exterior courtyard, placed in the middle of the school, provides a playful, educational experience with a connection to nature.
Exterior parking and circulation drives were also enhanced. Archimages provided assistance to pass the successful bond issue that funded the renovations.
